Two outstanding Rambam physician-scientists: Dr. Goded Shahaf, principal investigator of the Applied Neurophysiology Lab and Dr. Dana Shahaf, Dr. Dana Baron Shahaf, director of the Neurosurgery Anesthesia Unit, developed the EyeCon system with the Reuth Rehabilitation Hospital.
EyeCon is a pioneering tool facilitating communication with patients experiencing a reduced level of consciousness. While cognitively able, many lack the motor capabilities to communicate. The EyeCon bridges this gap monitoring brainwaves and eye muscle activity. External stimuli, like music, are used to stimulate a response and promote communication. Its user-friendly design also allows family members to operate it at home, empowering them to play an active role in their loved one’s rehabilitation.
