With Israel on heightened home‑front alert, the Ministry of Health is refreshing protocols and conducting drills for complex emergency scenarios, including at Rambam Health Care Campus (Rambam).
This week, together with the Home Front Command, emergency drills were carried out at Rambam as well as two other Haifa hospitals: Carmel Medical Center and Bnei Zion Medical Center. The move follows Israel’s transition to the highest level of preparedness—Level 4—which requires refreshing protocols and preparing the healthcare system for a range of emergency scenarios, including those involving the treatment of victims exposed to hazardous materials.
The drills were designed to assess the operational performance of medical teams, equipment, and infrastructure in various emergency situations. The Ministry of Health notes that they are integral to Israel’s health‑system preparedness, similar to exercises conducted for mass‑casualty incidents, rocket fire, or damage to vital infrastructure.
As part of the healthcare system’s broad and systematic effort to maintain full readiness for any scenario, similar exercises are expected to take place nationwide in the coming week.
The Ministry of Health emphasizes that while conducting these emergency drills and other preparations, the health system continues to operate with minimal disruption, maintaining a high level of alertness while ensuring continuity of care.
