Rambam Health Care Campus (Rambam) in Haifa, Israel has been awarded a prestigious grant from the Israeli Ministry of Economy and Industry as part of a national initiative to strengthen high-tech infrastructure. This initiative will position Northern Israel as a leader in medical and technological innovation, fostering collaboration between researchers, clinicians, and industry pioneers.
As part of a 220 million NIS national initiative to drive innovation in Israel’s high-tech sector, the Ministry has awarded grants to 13 leading institutions, including Rambam. Rambam’s proposal establishes an Innovation Center within the Helmsley Discovery Tower, designed to advance biotechnology, medical devices, and digital medicine. The center will feature four key components: state-of-the-art laboratory infrastructure for biotechnological research, an innovation lab for medical device development, computing and big data capabilities for digital healthcare, and a comprehensive support system for clinical trials. This integrated facility will accelerate the development of groundbreaking healthcare solutions by streamlining research and fostering collaboration.

Professor Lior Gepstein, director of Rambam’s Department of Cardiology and the director of the Division of Research, emphasized the hospital’s long-term vision: “This new research center, supported by the Ministry of Economy’s grant, brings us closer to our goal of establishing Rambam as a global leader in medical innovation. Working alongside partners such as the Technion - Israel Institute of Technology, the University of Haifa, and leading high-tech industries, we will advance healthcare in ways that will benefit patients worldwide.”
Shlomo Pashkos, Rambam’s chief financial officer, highlighted the economic and regional impact: “Being selected for this grant affirms Rambam’s role as a bridge between pioneering research and industry. This initiative will not only elevate healthcare in Northern Israel but also drive economic growth and create high-quality jobs in the region.”
Dr. Yuli Volovik Samoocha, the head of Rambam’s Research Authority, described the project’s unique approach: “Our new research center will function as a true one-stop shop for innovation—supporting every stage of research, from early preclinical studies to advanced clinical trials. This holistic infrastructure will be a game-changer for scientific and medical breakthroughs.”
Rambam’s Innovation Hub will serve as a cornerstone for medical and technological advancements, fostering dynamic collaboration between researchers, clinicians, and industry leaders. This initiative is set to revolutionize healthcare, benefiting patients, healthcare professionals, and Israel’s high-tech sector alike.
