Rambam Health Care Campus in Haifa, Israel, was honored to receive a distinguished delegation of academic colleagues from the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA). Against the backdrop of the challenges faced by the State of Israel since the October 7 attacks and the global surge in anti-Semitism, a group of 25 faculty members chose to stand in solidarity with Israel.

Desiring to stand with the State of Israel during this challenging time, a 25-member faculty delegation from the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA) recently visited Rambam. Their visit was facilitated by the Jerusalem-based organization Israel Destination, in collaboration with Dr. Avi Weissman, deputy director of Rambam, and a UCLA faculty member.
“Meeting and hosting our colleagues from UCLA, and the support they offered, was truly uplifting,” shares Dr. Weissman. “As we explored Rambam’s state-of-the-art 2,000-bed Fortified Underground Emergency Hospital, we all prayed for the safe return of the hostages and expressed hope for a brighter future.”
In addition to touring the Rambam campus, the delegation toured sites affected by recent events, including the Nova party site and communities in the Gaza envelope. They also met with families of hostages and the President of Israel, Mr. Isaac Herzog. Their visit exemplifies the strength of international collaboration and solidarity in the face of adversity. Rambam recognizes the significance of such gestures, which reinforce the bonds of friendship and transcend borders and cultures. “We were grateful for the opportunity to host and connect with our colleagues from UCLA during this poignant visit,” concluded Dr. Weissman.
