Protecting Their Childhood: Rambam Nurtures the Youngest Members of Our Community

As Operation Roaring Lion continues and the national education system remains closed, Rambam Health Care Campus (Rambam) has stepped in to support its staff and their families by creating a safe, nurturing, and enriching environment for their children.
In response to the needs of families of our staff during Operation Roaring Lion, Rambam, in partnership with the Haifa Municipality, has opened an on-campus daycare and nursery for children ages 3 months to 12 years old in the Fortified Underground Emergency Hospital, designed to give working parents a peace of mind and children a sense of stability during uncertain days.
The daily program offers structured learning, creative activities, and moments of joy that help maintain a feeling of normalcy despite a challenging security situation. Over the past week, children have been busy preparing handwritten letters and colorful drawings for soldiers on the battlefield, filling each message with encouragement and appreciation. These notes are being sent to soldiers serving around the country, strengthening the connection between the hospital community and those protecting it.
The children also enjoyed an interactive activity with a local reptile handler, who introduced them to snakes and other reptiles. The hands-on activity sparked curiosity and excitement, giving the young learners a welcome break from the tension outside the hospital gates.
Among the many uplifting moments was a special celebration for two children, who marked their 6th birthdays surrounded by new friends. Staff and children gathered for a lively Minecraft-themed party complete with decorations, music, and a shared sense of joy—a reminder that even in challenging times, childhood deserves to shine.
