Among those shaping the future of medicine in Israel are four outstanding staff members from Rambam Health Care Campus (Rambam), recently honored by the Ministry of Health with two prestigious awards in recognition of their exceptional achievements.
The Ministry of Health’s Director of Nursing Award of Recognition—one of Israel’s highest professional honors—celebrates nurses who demonstrate outstanding dedication, leadership, and excellence. Rambam’s Director of Nursing, Gila Hyams, was one of the awardees, alongside a distinguished group of peers from across the country. The award will be presented in June, 2026, at an official state ceremony at the residence of the President of the State of Israel, Mr. Isaac Herzog.
Hyams’ selection reflects her many years of dedicated leadership in advancing Rambam’s nursing system—professionally and organizationally—while strengthening the resilience of the hospital’s nursing staff.

A second honor comes from the Ministry of Health’s Directorate of Government Medical Centers, the national body overseeing 25 government hospitals. In March, the Directorate published its annual list of influential women leaders, recognizing three Rambam professionals:
Dr. Arbel Artzy‑Shnirman, PhD, director of the Applied Medical Technology Research Center (MATRiC)
Dr. Artzy-Shnirman built MATRiC from the ground up, transforming it into a pioneering innovation hub where “organs-on-a-chip” and 3D surgical models are developed and printed. Her work bridges medicine and engineering, positioning Rambam at the forefront of global medical innovation.
Dr. Miri Blich, senior physician in the Department of Cardiology
Dr. Blich is a national leader in gender-specific cardiology. She established Israel’s first clinic dedicated to genetic diagnosis aimed at preventing sudden cardiac death, ensuring care is precisely tailored to each patient—with exceptional sensitivity to both women and men.
Ms. Nora Libes Shnaid, director of the Economics and Business Development Department and VP of Business Development
For over 30 years, Ms. Libes-Shnaid has been shaping Rambam’s economic vision, leading some of its most significant strategic initiatives, including the establishment of a close partnership with Sakhnin Medical Center—a groundbreaking model for expanding access to healthcare in peripheral communities.
During an event celebrating Passover held Monday in the Fortified Underground Emergency Hospital, Rambam Director General Dr. Michal Mekel congratulated all four recipients on their achievements, noting that their selection highlights the strength of women’s leadership at Rambam—their vision, excellence, and unwavering professionalism.
