In early November, 21-year-old Sergeant Karina Darchov, from Haifa, was serving in Southern Israel. During a military activity, her Jeep capsized and she was rushed to Soroka Medical Center in Be’er Sheva, Israel. From there, she was transferred to Rambam where she has been receiving ongoing treatment in the departments of orthopedics and plastic surgery.
Rambam’s dedicated multidisciplinary medical team has worked tirelessly to help Drachov recover from her extensive injuries. On December 17th, she was discharged for further rehabilitation and treatment at Sheba Medical Centre.
When the time came to leave, the medical teams who cared for Drachov wanted to honor her courage. As she was wheeled out of the department, she was surrounded by her caregivers, wishing her well for the future, cheering her on, and waving Israeli flags to honor her service.
As she left, Darchov summed up her time at Rambam – “I’m more optimistic now!”
