On May 29, Cathy and Danny visited Rambam, despite current circumstances to attend the official opening and the plaque unveiling and dedication ceremony of the Danny & Cathy Rosenkranz Oncology/Hematology ER at Rambam. Professor Alona Zer, director of Medical Oncology at Fishman Oncology Center, emceed the event. Rambam’s director general, Professor Michael Halberthal, spoke warmly of Danny and Cathy, their close familial bond and Danny and Cathy’s commitment to Israel the hospital. “With the support from Danny and Cathy, the hospital was able to complete the construction of the final piece of the puzzle of the Joseph Fishman Oncology Center, allowing us to provide our oncology patients all services under one roof”. Expressing gratitude to the couple, Professor Irit Ben-Aharon director of the Joseph Fishman Oncology Center shared, “In addition to addressing the side effects of chemotherapy, which become increasingly complex with the newer biological and immunotherapeutic treatments, the Danny & Cathy Rosenkranz Oncology/Hematology ER also provides supportive and urgent care to our patients in need and we receive positive feedback daily”. Danny shared that for them, opening of the Oncology/Hematology ER was a continuation of their support of both Rambam and the State of Israel, which is extremely important during this time and thanked the hospital’s committed teams.

A game-changer for the thousands of cancer patients in Northern Israel, the dedicated Oncology/Hematology provides emergency services equivalent to those offered by the world’s best cancer-care centers. On average, cancer patients undergoing chemotherapy are more likely to visit the emergency room and require subsequent hospitalization than other types of patients. Furthermore, anti-cancer treatments suppress the immune system, making the risk of infection exceptionally high when treated in a general ER. The dedicated ER makes it possible for Rambam’s specialized oncology medical teams to provide personalized care targeted toward the unique needs of cancer patients, thereby reducing the time to hospitalization and contamination risk for thousands of patients annually.

The ceremony continued with a plaque-unveiling and ribbon-cutting ceremony in the Oncology/Hematology ER. There, Danny and Cathy affixed a mezuzah to the doorpost of the ER entrance followed by a tour of the facility.
