Even in an Emergency, Rambam Holds a Full-Scale Drill

On March 5, 2026, during Operation Roaring Lion, Rambam Health Care Campus (Rambam) and the Home Front Command conducted a pre-planned emergency preparedness exercise.
Amidst Operation Roaring Lion, Home Front Command conducted a large-scale emergency preparedness exercise this morning at Rambam, bringing together hundreds of staff members and soldiers. The drill was carried out despite the hospital’s recent transition to the Fortified Underground Emergency Hospital—an effort that underscores Rambam’s commitment to uninterrupted readiness during times of heightened tension.
The exercise simulated a direct missile attack on the hospital grounds, mirroring what was experienced at Soroka Hospital in Be’er Sheva during Operation Rising Lion in June 2025.
“As a regional hospital whose function is critical to the population of the north, we must be prepared to respond to any emergency scenario—whether war or natural disaster. We must be ready at all times,” says Dr. Michal Mekel, Rambam’s Director General.
The exercise highlighted the essential role Rambam plays as a strategic asset for the health of Northern Israel and the region’s only Level 1 trauma center, as well as reinforces the importance of seamless cooperation with our most valued partners during times of emergency.
